I do not think dirt and water would enter the sensor, the sensor it attached to the camshaft, and the only part that is exposed is the very top which has no damage. I think it would still be a good idea to seal it up though so oil does not get in. Although I wonder if that would even be an issue, because the plastic doesn't really look hollow, it just looks like solid plastic. I really think that the sensor is going to be ok, as long as I repair the broken plastic. If it were to break further, it would probably break the delicate circuitry in the sensor, but at this point I think the circuitry is fine.

I would get some type of glue and try to at least glue it back together, maybe use some silicone sealant to seal the crack to prevent dirt and water from entering the sensor.
