These instructions only program BMW keys to lock/unlock (central locking) & arm/disarm (alarm siren system). This has NOTHING to do with EWS (the immobilizing system that deals with the ability of the key to START the car).

In fact, you can take ANY BMW keys that look like the ones below...if they are fully charged, they can be programmed to lock/unlock & arm/disarm your car (FZV/DWA)...even though they are from another BMW. But doing so will not allow that key to start your car (EWS). EWS is car & VIN specific...the transponder chip inside the key will only work with the car & VIN it was assigned as the car rolled off the assembly line.

TIP: KL R = ignition position 1
