I don't know why you call it nonsense, it seems like a good idea to me.

Brake Energy Regeneration also has nothing to do with your brakes. The braking comes from the alternator, which applies a load when you are coasting or decelerating, thus converting kinetic energy into electrical energy. It is controlled by the accelerator pedal, not the brake pedal.

You also likely have other brake features such as brake pad drying, but that is part of the ABS actuator, and shouldn't have anything to do with the calipers themselves. You may find that some pad compositions work better than others given these types of features.

First thing to do is consider alternate pad compounds before changing out calipers, IMO.

Is the braking limited by the brakes, or the tires?
