Cisco phones are expensive. Make sure that before you decide for Cisco phones you check out the lineup of Polycom phones and Snom phones. They are equal or better in terms of usability and functionality at a significantly lower price.
OK, you want a Cisco phone. Optaining the SIP firmware required to transform the standard SCCP phone into a SIP phone (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk65...80094584.shtml) typically requires you to buy a maintenance contract for the phone either from Cisco directly or a certified reseller. Cost for a minimum one year maintenance contract is typically in the $80 range, which has to be added to the price of the phone. Please contact your reseller for additional details.
While it might be possible now to buy a new Cisco IP phone with a SIP firmware load, obtaining firmware upgrades still requires a maintenance contract (Cisco SmartNet).
I'll see what I can do though.
