New Alternator fixed all of the weirdness. Up and running like new again...
There was one little artifact of the CIC Retrofit. See photos.
The service indicator came on for about 3 seconds when starting the X, and the mystery triangle appeared in the service needed menu.

Patryk & MEN took care of that for me this weekend, and all is good in X5 land again
