I bought the car with 73000 on it about 3 years ago - right now it's about to turn 110k.
I was originally thinking maybe the alternator bracket was the culprit, but now it's looking more like the valve cover gasket to some extent, but maybe primarily the front timing cover is the problem? I think that's what's in the 3rd picture (I just stuck my iPhone down there).
When I did the plugs last weekend they were very dry, so no oil down there.
I agree it needs a GOOD cleaning. It's just been so darn cold lately, and since it's my wife's daily driver I haven't been able to take-it-down for an extended amount of time to fiddle around with it and explore a little.
I am not exactly sure where the coolant is coming from at this time - I think it's mixing with oil and dripping somewhere off the skid-plate. In the spot where it leaks on the ground, I notice it's two different fluids in there. Both coolant and oil.
It lives outside and is parked at a slight angle (sideways incline) which makes it harder to tell where it's coming from. it seems like it's from the front of the engine though - not towards the rear.
It looks like pelican parts has the best deal on gaskets from what I've seen. I may be able to get away with just doing to drivers-side, but will order both sides just in-case. Is it necessary to also replace the spark plug tubes?
I replaced the expansion tank back in November and replaced the upper radiator hose a couple years ago (I broke a nipple off) when I was changing the idler and tensioner pulleys and belts out.
