Just found out why the iBolt cradle did not allow the data from the phone to pass to the iBolt MHL converter, while the iBolt people kept telling me that both iBolt units are compatible with each other...
The circuit board inside the cradle has a microUSB jack that does not have the three middle data pins (only two are real serial data) wired to anything!!! All they had to do, just "draw" a pass-through lines to the microUSB plug!!!
The set up works fine with the phone just laying on the seat or in the ashtray... but I want it sitting nicely in the cradle...
Grrr... off to micro-soldering the "hair" wires... That will be fun!!
