been fine for years on my all-season Toyos, but I don't go driving in 8" or anything like that of course. The wide tires are already a negative, so don't get too brave. Are you parking on city streets where there are snow piles?
I just don't like swapping out tires twice a year and having to store an extra set. Heavy wheels. In the name of safety you should always do what's optimal but if you're asking if you can probably get by in this area, I'd say yes.
