What's the mileage on the truck?

If you need to replace one cooling system component, it would not be unreasonable to replace them all while you're there.

I thought same as you before. In previous makes of cars I would replace things just as they break.

I tried that with the X5. After replacing the top hose, my ET started leaking.

During the ET change, I replaced all hoses under the cooling system diagram...but not the ones for the heater system. (And i had a bunch of those because of the aux heating system option)

When I replaced my alternator some months later I discovered a heater system hose beneath the intake just about ready to give. Replaced all the hoses under there. Lucky I caught them before they stranded me somewhere.

I should've just gotten them all out of the way in the first place LOL.

Another option would be to do the hard to access hoses now while youre in there, and leave the easy ones for next time if money is tight.

Do check your belts, belt tensioners and pulleys too. Good time to check and replace them if needed.
