That's just not true.

The fact is that only a small percentage of people that own BMW's are on the forums in the first place. Take away the people who think- like YOU do- that this is nothing but a money pit- and you'll get an even SMALLER minority of the X's out there.

Just bc you *believe* something to be true doesn't mean it is for everyone else.

In fact, I- as ONE owner- have THREE examples of my own X5's that ARE NOT money pits. I have at least THREE friend's who love, maintain, and happily pay for repairs on their X's. There. My experience trumps yours all day long.

Well, duh. People don't call customer service bc everything is working great, now do they? I have been an active member on various boards for over 14 years. When E39's were new, everyone was modding and adding and playing and putting them on the track. Same with E53's. Look at my cool 4.8is- Few and far between bc very few of the old rich geezers who bought them for their wives even knew what the Internet was. That's not a cycle unique to any brand or any model. To suggest that it is indicative of anything outside of normal for the E53 is, once again, your perception.

My experience is once again directly opposite of what you say EVERYone's is: I post here plenty of times to share my experience, excitement, and even some mods with the folks here. I had a 3.0 for 7 years and probably came here ten times after I registered. My experience is just one of many examples that fly directly in the face of the negative perception you wish to foster here.

I have nothing to add in my experience of your career choice. Except maybe you should have joined an architectural forum and allowed yourself to be talked out of the job. Might've saved you some of the negative energy you want to share so readily with others who aren't looking for it.

Based on your posts and the information here, maybe the best way to get through is to offer the same unsolicited (but helpful! Oh yes. 'Helpful') advice you might:

Sell your X5. It's not the right car for you. Quit the X5 forums so that you aren't surrounded by something you so desperately dislike.

Quit your job. Without an X5, you can afford to go back to school and get a job- perhaps in IT- that will pay your bills and improve your outlook on life.

There. Feel better? I hope so.
