If turbo seals are gone on turbo,you then a new or reconditioned turbo!Alternatively,you can have yours repaired by a specialist.Dont know where you are in UK ,but my company there works with TURBOACTIVE.They will repair and sell you a turbo.
Just put that on stanby for now!Your problem maybe something simpler!
You say you see smoke when you take engine covers off?You only have one engine cover!!!Where is the smoke coming from and what does it smell of?Exhaust or diesel or oil?
Changing to vortex type filter is safer but will let more vapour oil through,which is normal!Been reading your thread on X DRIVERS UK and when they say that there shouldnt be any oil on turbo/intercooler pipes,this is WRONG information!!!!Even on brand new cars ,there is always some oil residues on pipes ,on all makes!
