Those of us with the 5 Spd MT enjoy it, but the 6 Spd has a slightly overdriven 6th gear which makes for more comfortable/slightly lower RPMs at highway speeds.
Sounds like a lot of sourcing and work. Maybe just hunt for a manual trans X...

I put the 6 speed in my 01. Granted, you have to replace the transfer case, front and rear driveshafts also since the 6 speed was only in the 04-06. If you have 01-03, the 5 speed is a easier swap.
