+2 on not a good idea to vent to atmosphere. It has been reported to cause piston ring flutter. I was looking into doing this as well. I'm on the beta test list with this. Just waiting for them for the beta release. If nothing comes to fruition by the fall, I will be converting to a catch can method on both my X3 and X5.
