It looks like you don't post on the site often, if you notice there are a lot of threads lately about timing chain guides, as most of our cars have between 125K-200K miles on them. Depending on where you take it, the repair costs can run anywhere from $2000-$5000, or you can do it yourself, it's a lot of work though.

i have 2002 x5 4.6is timing guides failed last year with about 103,000, had it repaired for $2400, has about 110k now and have had the rattle start up since ive owned it. i don't post much in here but i do creep on this forum all the time, very helpful info. i just have no idea what could cause that braided oil hose to vibrate/whine so bad really annoying. i took it by the shop that did the guide repair and he has never seen that before on the v8s. said he will do some research and get back to me. Was hoping someone here has experienced this annoying vibration noise that makes a whining noise in the cabin when taking off from a stop.
