This link will answer all your questions on pads. The4.6 and the 4.8is share the same caliper and pads. Make sure you buy what your SAV needs not what the loacl NAPA dealer is selling. I believe that Raybestos makes those pads if they are selling the good ones. Take at look at the link and look on Rockauto.com for the additional options.
This link talks about rotors also which you will need when replcaing pads if you want to have a safe and secure stopping power.
Oh, Cool Carbon does NOT make pads for our X5 models only the slower ones......
They have them for the rear only, but to make your vehicle solid you need the same brand front and rear.
