They are NOT related. SES is emission related.
You need to have the code read and see what it is. There might be more than 1 code.
Oil service indicator tells you it's time to have the oil and filter changed. Do not rely heavily on it unless you don't like your SAV much. It was set for long (~15k miles) oil change interval which is not good for the engine. I did it at 7.5 miles and reset the light every other change.
