In my youth I operated a recovery 4x4 tow truck in a rural area with lots of beaches. There was only one boat launch ramp on the island, so most used the gravel beaches. We had 12 foot tides. Regularly, someone would back in, and not be able to pull back up the beach. They would wait until the waves were lapping at the door sill, then call in a panic, often on a weekend. When we got there, the salt water could be in the cab. The amateur boat launcher was typically holding his head, just as this guy was, as his vehicle slipped into the salt chuck. If it was deep, we sent him into the water with the winch cable. Brings back memories.
There is no cure for stupidity, except Darwin. Fortunately, it looks like this driver got out in time. Spring. The time, every year, when the ice melts.
