Yesterday I put in new rear Bilstein sport (yellow) shocks and new shock mounts. Then I installed the CCV vents (I think that's what they are called on the N62). Finally, I put in power flex front sway bar bushings. Oddly, with nearly 89k miles the stock rear Bilstein (black) shocks still had some compression and rebound resistance. They were *not* toast like I thought they were from the way the X was handling cornering transitions.
Today, I pressed in the power flex tension strut bushings. First one pressed in fine. Second one was a major PITA. One hour later it finally went in with 2 screwdrivers pressing the 'lip' of the bushing, working around the edge to get it started. What a bummer after the first one went in so easily, with no assistance needed other than the press working.
I'll install the arms with new bolts on the bushing end tomorrow.
The driver's side front bushing is torn again...hence my clunk under abrupt braking. I'll save installing the front struts for next weekend when I can get an alignment done.
