First, let me say that I agree with you as to the simplicity of changing the oil yourself (with the N62 being slightly less simple with the oil filter being underneath the vehicle)...then there's the satisfaction that comes from doing it yourself...knowing that the O-rings, drain plug and filter/reservoir lid is torqued correctly...and we can't forget the cost savings, too.
But some owners aren't as lucky as having the tools and/or space to safely perform an oil change. If you live in an urban environment and you're relegated to having to find a parking spot somewhere on your block...or live in an apartment complex and have no storage space for oil changing equipment or safe space to elevate the car and change the oil without other residents running over you legs while you're underneath the vehicle...one may find that its just best to take it to a vendor that changes oil...even though the procedure is simple.
For the reasons above (and a few more)...I wouldn't snatch a guy's "man card".
