Garrett the procedure on the top of the forum is the "by the book" procedure, that is, basically taking the whole front suspension and wheel carrier off.
Like I said, if you push the axle out of the hub, take the outer nut off as well as the rotor and caliper, disconnect the 2 bolts at the bottom of the strut you have plenty of room to manuever the axle to the side and give you room to pop the outer joint off and replace the boot.
If you want to do it by the book be my guest but I think its a bunch of unneeded steps.
