you can do what Rondo said, or what pezho said...

i would use the expert mode, and BMW CODING TOOL - that software is very neat, it writes the new file with the correct name and you don't have to manually rename anything (well, i would still make a copy of the original readout and name it something like ORIGINAL-DO NOT DELETE), and then it even has the instructions for the NCS, on what button to push next...

try to keep things as simple as possible (unless you are experimenting with a search for new code lines and new functions, not previously documented)... program your side lights in or out, windows to roll or not to roll on remote, high beams for DRL or not, gong for key in ignition or not, clock for GPS sync'ing, autolock - in other words, customize the car to your liking... and call it a day...
