I have seen some people paint them, not sure if I would do that but to each their own. Another option I have seen is the DTL replacement option that looks to replace the whole insert with the additions of an LED bar in place of the center trim piece like I have on my 2011. As far as outright upgrades to something else, or another style, I have yet to see that but can't say there isn't something out there.
