Like I said before you need to get the X scanned so that you will know what the problems are. If you don't know of a honest reliable indy, you will need to get some software so that you can scan the X yourself, and post the DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) so that people on this forum can help you.
I used Carsoft 6.5 when I had my E34 but have moved on to BMW Scanner 1.4. There are other software available, but I find that BMW Scanner 1.4 is the easiest to install and to get up and running.
Like I have posted on this forum before if you're not a DIYer and you don't have a warranty on the X, a used X is not the right SUV for you.
