i think BMWs have gotten away from using the codes for the radio... i need to check into that... since your engine is not starting and the cluster says code, you need code for the engine to start, the SECURITY CODE...
when you try to start the engine with the code activated, the main screen has a 4-digit display asking for a code, you enter the numeric code using the main knobs, and after entering the last digit, you press the "DEACTIVATE" button the screen, using the main knobs... at this point, you turn the ignition key to engage the starter, or, if your key was in position 2 when you realized that you needed the code, you turn the key off, and turn it on again... engine starts...
with no code available, you only have the timeout method...
do you presently have ORIGINAL screen that is blank (you say white, give us more info about it), or you have aftermarket screen? it is imperative to know what you have now, to avoid throwing money for the parts that you don't need...
if you have aftermarket monitor, the question is whether the original plugs and harnesses are intact or have been "molested"
if you have original monitor, is it "white" because the nav computer is dead, or for some other reasons...
if it is original monitor and the nav comp is ok, then you might need a replacement monitor...
can you answer all of these questions, to narrow down the path of the remedy?
