I've been in contact with a few forum members and they know what's going on, but i just got final word from my insurance company, so I think it is time to share my story.
My 2004 4.8 IS and I were in an accident on Monday 6/2. It was a head on crash and I found out today, it was a drunk driver. We struck each other going 40 MPH. I made it out alive, but it is because of my X5. The driver crossed into my lane of traffic within 10 feet in front of me. The next thing I knew, I woke up in the ER with EMS and police telling me how lucky I was to be alive. I first thought it was an over exaggeration. I thought, 'She can be put back together. I'm sure it's not that bad." Even my father saw the X and ran to the officer and asked, "Was my son killed." I shed a tear when I saw his face. Anyways, I managed to escape with a broken left toe, some second degree burns from the airbag, a few cuts, and some major bruising... but I am still here.
When I was allowed to go get my belongings from my X, I was excited to go see her. It was until the Supervisor pointed me in the direction of where she was parked and the moment I saw her, is when reality set in. I was really lucky. Everyone who said I was lucky to not have been killed was right. It wasn't an exaggeration. My X5 saved my life as well as BMW assist. Police notified me that the first call they got about the accident was from BMW assist. Their response time was 7 minutes.
So she is gone. Insurance evaluated it and deemed it a total loss. They are giving me an option to buy it back for a good price. So I am thinking of possibly starting a part out section. But I want to see if anyone would be interested in any parts. So a quick and dirty part of it would be, all interior parts, exterior parts would be up for grabs minus the entire front clip and left front and rear door. So If i get enough feelers, I will buy the car back and help those that need OE parts for cheap. So if I get enough, i'll get my stuff together and start it.
Now to the pictures...
