Based on your situation, he'll give you an sample letter of what he thinks would work best in your situation. He says to always fight your tickets by written declaration because if the officer does not respond by a certain time, the ticket is dismissed and your bail returned. First thing I would do is to get an extension. The longer the time from the time you got cited, the less likely the officer will remember the circumstances surrounding your stop; he gives out hundreds of tickets each month, so unless you were an ass, he probably won't remember it as well as you do. Once you do submit your written declaration, if the judge rules against you, you can get a second trial, or take traffic school and maybe even get your fine reduced,
as long as you ask for it in writing. TA also gives a lot of good info on what to say when you get stopped, like, "how long have you had this speed trap set up? (30 minutes) Did you know that speed traps are illegal in the state of california, per California Vehicle Code ******?" We're all going to speed at some point, the website just helps you if and when you get pulled over again. I got pulled over 8 years ago and said that I won't speed again, and I was pretty good about it until December.
