I always rent for long trips. Not because I am concerned about problems with my X5 but because I don't like adding trip miles, not as much fun miles. We don't have time to take the scenic route, I don't know the roads and at least once on the trip one of those boards or truck rubber will be flying around. Worse yet there are all those trucks hauling sand, gravel or cement that are spraying everything behind them that you have to pass.
