taller rear springs - E53 without self leveling/air ride
anyone done this or know the info i would need to hunt down taller springs? i assume diameter/height/spring rate is what i would need to know? thanks! |

I've seen diy generic kits for doing exactly this with coil springs at auto parts store. Three variations:
➀ a split piece of hard rubber it looks like a donut that is thread into the coil until it sits at the bottom ➁ a type of "screw" that goes in from the side and pushes the coil apart from the next winding. ➂ uses two screws pushing apart two plates that are set in between two wraps of the coil. The problem is those methods good for maybe an inch of lift however if you look at the design of ➀ you will see how it works and could easily be recreated in the form of aluminum donut. If there is a lip to mimic the seat where the spring fits and fits into the same seat it will do what you want. The spring will always be under compression the hardest part may be installing because I don't know what it would take to get all the force off the spring plus the added height.
