Early 2000 X5 4.4 and ODBFusion. Do I connect underhood@ round port or under dash?

Hello, let me introduce myself to the forum. I have recently bought a silver 2000 X5 4.4 and after researching topics this forum for a month, I have two questions. I recently bought ODBFusion for my iPhone. I know I need a plug-in WiFi or Bluetooth plug in scanner. First, due to my early X5 make, which plug do I attach to? Is it the one under my dash like most IDBII vehicles or is it the round plug in the engine bay? Do you have recommendations as to what I should buy to connect the X5 and my iPhone/OBDFusion. Thank you in advance. I am grateful for any response. It is an honor to be allowed in this forum.

Round port in engine compartment. The OBD port will not give reading/connection to several modules on your model.
Since I don't use OBDFusion, can't recommend the cable/connection.

Thank you so much. That is what I suspected.

BTW: Do you know of a way to connect to that plug via a WiFi or Bluetooth scanner? Most of those types of scanners are for regular under dash ODB2 scanners. Or do I go with the older methods?

I found the adapter on eBay. There is a round port 20 pin to regular ODB2 adapter and all is good. Thank you very much for your help.

Since OBD Fusion is basically an OBD II scanner, you can just connect to the connector under the dash. I have both connectors on my 2001 X5 and use the dash connector when I use OBD Fusion, or Torque Pro. I use the underhood round connector if I have to read other modules not related to OBD II such as ABS, Trans, etc. I use Scanner 1.4 when I use the underhood connector.

Thank you for the info. And thank you for the welcoming reply!

I have been on many forums in the past, but I am really impressed with the depth of knowledge on this site.
