CD changer/Isimple Intergration....

I have searched and found several threads and videos on installing the Isimple hookup in place of the cd changer.

However, every video I see people start with showing the Isimple already hooked up....

I am having trouble finding the cd changer in the rear. On the drivers side of rear, I open the compartment and see what looks like an amp. I think the see the cd changer hook up underneath it, but how do I get access to it??

Remove truck/spare tire housing, remove rear seat, etc....I don't think it is supposed to be too difficult, I just can't figure out how to get access to it...

Pics would be great. Not that I expect anyone to rear up their truck for me, but just pics of what needs to be pulled out/removed would be great.

Well figured it out....and it works with iPhone 6S+....so I assume it will work with all past iPhones...

I keep trying to add pics but not working.....regardless for 50.00 bucks you can hook up new iPhone through simple and a cheap adaptor from Amazon.

Mind explaining more? The link you posted was to a 10 dollar adapter, not the 50 dollar one you mentioned in your first post. Thanks.

Ya sorry, though everyone knew about the Isimple....here it is

iSimple ISBM72 iPod Interface for BMW without DSP 5-Volt Cable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001ANXPPS..._pE8KwbCFF6DMJ

So buy the second adaptor if you need lightening cord, otherwise, if u old school, just run the isimple.

Hey thanks!

I had no clue about this. I thought I needed the 100 dollar grom or what ever it is ....

We have the same car and same phone so I should be golden. The teenager is always complaining about not being able to play her music on her phone in the X. Maybe this would help. Man when I was a kid I would of been slapped had I even touched the radio.

The 10 dollar connector has to make ends, one to charge the iPhone/iPod and the other is a 3.5mm.

So it is not as "integrated" as the 400 setups...meaning it won't scroll song names nor can I figure out how to change songs.....when I hit the up arrow on my steering wheel it goes from "1-CD 001" to "1-CD 002" but the song keeps playing.

I haven't messed with it too much, so maybe still possible to intragrate next track features other than from the iPhone itself.

It may in fact be the cheap Chinese adaptor....thinking a standard lightening to 30pin would solve it.....

On the plus side it sounds much better than anything I have heard coming through these factory speakers...a huge upgrade.

Update: not long after using the Lightening/audio jack to the Isimple plug, I started to get feedback...traced it to the cheap eBay connector.

Ordered an Apple 30pin to lightening cable from Amazon for $33.00....now not only is the sound improved, but I can use the steering wheel controls to change the songs!!
