What is preventing me to read my ECUs?

So, I have a 02 4.4,

I have INPA to work on most of the BMW that i touched (mostly newer)
downloaded daten for e53, solder pin7/8 on a spare cable. Plug it in, detects the car, but only read 2 out of 24 modules of my e53.....

Same thing happen to Carly, I use carly to code a lot of cars and read codes and what not, both regular cable and soldered cable reads the car, but same, 2 out of 24 modules read only. Tried coding...."unable to read data from car"

Can anyone point me to a good direction?

It has been super annoying to be able to code other's cars but not my own.

When I first got mine, had trouble communicating with the DSC module. Turned out to be a crimped wire in the harness. An Indy figured it out after a lot of wasted time

yes I have, car won't even connect to INPA or Carly,

I mean, being a 2002, soldered cable should be required right?

btw, I discovered my car won't even go into Test 1-19.

Before asking me if I did it right, I will answer, YES, I did it on other BMWs and I googled a DIY to make sure.

So, I pretty much can conclude my modules are blocked/locked by someone or something?

wpoll will become famous soon enough
I was playing with PA Soft today and found a similar issue - I could read many of the modules but not all of them - notably the DDE.

I am using this adapter.

I have researched this and while the adapter I am using is only KK (no CanBus/DCAN), it seems that this is all that should be required for a E53.

And yes, pins 7 & 8 are linked (from the manufacturer).

If I find out why, I'll let you know...

Pins 7&8 , from my understanding help on newer cars 2006+. Having said that, it does not affect anything on the older models in my experience. My cable is jumped and programmed and I have scanned cars from 97-10'.

There is an adjustment for latency speed for your cable. Try increaseing that speed and it might help. Not being able to unlock the cluster, you might have some other issue than your cable/software.

If you are having trouble unlocking the cluster, it has nothing to do with the cable and software - it is a communication problem wholly within the vehicle. I would definitely be inspecting connectors for bent/broken pins and inspecting the wiring harness for damaged wires.

The Indy that found my problem said there is a wiring testing feature in INPA/DIS that will test individual wires and pins. I didn't have the software then so didn't ask any more questions - now that I have them, I am very curious what exactly he was doing.

from what I know, I ran INPA on other BMWs just fine, so I assume my latency setting should be right on. Plus, if latency is the problem, Carly should be able to read it because it via my cell phone.

I will have to deal with one problem after the other, if INPA is able to test individual wires, I still need to figure out how to connect it to INPA first. I debating if I should buy a ebay GT1 package. That would definitely give me the right cable to rule out cable problem (which I shouldn't have since the same cable work on other cars)
