02 X5 4.4i TECH help Please! no start p/n t chain job

I need Help! someone with very good knowledge of these cars seeing how my local dealer couldnt help! here is what im working with
2002 X5 4.4i auto
Car sat dead for a few weeks then we did the timing chain job. however we didnt pull the motor out we did it like we do Audi's and took the front clip off the car. the actual timing chain job went great no issues.
get done and it wouldn't crank. so we jumped the starter Relay and ran it. Ran perfect all timing good everything powered up and ran as should.
Next we determined the key was old and lost touch with the Immobilizer. Ordered OE key and didnt do anything, scan tool only listed 1 key and wouldnt recognize any, so off to the dealership. New EWS installed and coded Still no start with key.
we then determined the ignition switch wasn't powering up the small wires in the front closest to the column so we jumped starter relay again and drove back to the shop.

So here we sit.. The only issue i can see is the scanner(snap on) under EWS is telling me the car thinks it is in gear or reverse and NOT park or nuetral... today we tested the PRNDL switch and everything tested 100% and is going back to the DME and trans Comp. somehow something is telling the car its not in park. im not sure if we missed a connector somewhere under the hood or when pulled the front clip or what..We can jump the starter relay and drive the car fine but cannot start with key and want it fixed right!
PLEASE ANY HELP WOULD BE AMAZING! im in the syracuse ny area and would even pay someone to fix this darn thing at this point.

only related code i keep seeing is:

code 90(with snap on) Supply voltage, pin 15
91 gong pitch
FB CAN-Bus to EGS- control unit
F5 CAN: Data error From Engine ECU

i dont get how any of this can happen from bolting on a couple chains! ugg iu have read all i can read before reaching out to XoutPost! Thanks in advance Ed

Okay you should really start with the simple things that may have been overlooked since these problems did not exist before the timing chain job. So ar you absolutely sure that all of the ground wires are connected back up properly and no plug left unplugged.

Check the connector to the trans mechatronic. It's a big round connector. On the PNRDL switch did you align it with the gear shift?

Does it start in Neutral? What gear does the dash display shows the trans to be in?

Here's an article on how to replace and adjust the inhibitor switch AKA Neutral safety switch.

Upallnight asked the things I would check first.

The little wire you describe by the ignition switch sounds like the antenna to receive the code from the key (key has mechanical function AND a wireless function AND the remote entry function - all different) maybe if that is broken it is not recognizing the key - even the new key.

Definitely check the starter relay as well. Did you open the engine electronics box during the work? If so, check for broken pins and missed connectors.

DIS/INPA software may be a little better for troubleshooting something like this if you can get access to it. A little PITA to set up initially.

Post more as you go.

This is going to sound too simple, but I went thru a similar situation. Let me just say, check the 2 fuses that control the DME/start circuit. I think one is a 20amp and the other a 7 or so. It will say on your glove box fuse list. Give it a shot.

thanks for all info! we are pretty good techs we use a powerprobe IV and test lights and checked every single fuse in glove box and breaker fuses on back and trunk ones and breaker sin the trunk many times with the powerprobe. its a very handy tool one of the best. But however i am gonna recheck them today because last night in my ///M the interior lights were intermitten and i found a fuse that was not popped but the wire actually cracked in half and was rubbing to make connection.. so i may just change every fuse today.
we tested the PRNDL switch with the chart it is sending the 12v as it should on every leg when selector is moved so were ruling that out. I have the DME data and the cluster indicator and shifter selector lights all working perfect telling me the car is in park, the only module that is not seeing park is the dam Immobilizer EWS which is brand new from dealer fresh programmed can read all data everything on it is functioning all key recocnized... So we strongly think what the tech at BMW told us that it is the trans controller AGS internal fault.. we may try to fix it probably a solder joint cracked...

but here is my question... the L2 powers the PRNDL switch 12v then it sends proper 12v as needed to the trans computer.. that must trigger and internal relay or something its the orange wire in plug 1 or end plug we have the 12v there and nothing coming out.. in the middle plug there is a blue wire that heads to the EWS. does anyone know what voltage that sends over there? is it 12v or it is reduced like a 5v refrence or is it 3.5v i have the scamatic here just dont know the volts.. i think if we hot that blue wire the module will accept P/N condition and the car will be fine i strongly think jumping the orange input to the blue output would fix this whole dam issue but i wanna know voltage first so i dont disrupt that ews box! UGGG
Thank you all! im rechecking fuses today after finding that weird one in my M5 last night!
also still have hard codes in this X5 that come back instantly not sure if they are related to this issue but these come back instantly and we checked every single plug!

airbag:
code 50 : supply voltage? no air bag light though

air conditioning:
code 0A AUC sensor? air works though?
Antilock brakes:
code 90: Intermitten system down?
those codes are hard they come back instantly even after leaving battery off for 5 hrs?? truck is killing us! lol we will not be defeated!
