I bought that kit. My AC belt snapped two weeks after install. The belts are pretty flimsy feeling compared to OE. I spent good money for the replacement for the replacement and have been problem free since.

Yeah, I'm wondering what's up with Continental belts, they used to be a pretty good brand but has a few with short lifespans.
What brand are the pulleys/ tensioner? Also, arent the main belt mechanical tensioners (AC still mechanical) superceded by the hydraulic tensioner? Whats the opinion on mechanical vs hydraulic?

I got the mechanical set because that's what was on there already.. Same manufacturer as OE. Install was simple and it doesn't sound like a yard full of crickets under the hood any more. The belts however were very flimsy. I ordered a BMW AC belt from FCP and it was much more substantial.

INA is the OEM for the tensioners right? Continental is the OEM for the belts I thought? When I replaced mine I went with the Conti belts since I zoomed in on the ECS pics of the BMW belts and there was "Continental" written on them.
I replaced my belts with Conti's about 5 years ago and I have the hydraulic tensioner on my X5 so I replaced that, the AC tensioner, and the idler pulley. I think I used a combo of INA and Conti parts -

Yup looks like it RB. INA/LUK/FAG are pretty much the same company IIRC.
I recall Continental/Contitech as OEM for the belts as well. They are OE for some other rubber parts, the OE coolant hoses I replaced on the 4.6 yesterday were Contitech marked.

Well Alternator belt snapped out on the road today 3.5 hours from home. No place in Worthington, MN has 1 so ordered replacement from Oreily's since they could get it same day. I hope it is the right belt. Going to have to look into the tensioner when I get home and get in a better position with tools ect.. Tensioner is definitely a INA/LUK/FAG OEM as fa as I can tell. Will just get the belt replaced and take it easy on the 3.5 hour drive home.
