2001 e53 3.0l threw belt yesterday

Havent taken it apart yet but i know the engine fan/shaft is moving around. Whats the fan shaft attached to?

Fan is attached to the fan clutch which is on the water pump. Check out this M54 video to see it all taken apart:

thanks, I was guessing it was the waterpump. On line right now looking for the fan clutch tool.
