Shark's Tooth Antenna Conversion

I've searched the site but didn't come up with anything on this. Has anyone converted their e53 radio antennas to the sharks tooth or shark fin of the newer models? Is it even possible?

Why would you want to introduce an antenna that is visible vs invisible?

Because the invisible antennas work like crap. A well known defect on the e53 and I think the reason BMW went to the sharks tooth.

Okay mine has worked well over the years but if yours is malfunctioning and not giving you the reception you desire then perhaps the shark fin mod is in order.

It never has worked well. Also, searching this and other sites for ways to improve reception it became obvious it is a very common problem. I've never had reception this poor in any other vehicle I've owned.

Just a question...are you for certain that the e70's "shark fin" antenna is used for FM? Because the part database indicates that it's for satellite radio/tuner (see the info in the part nbr database below the diagram). The FM antenna is probably embedded in the rear glass like the e53...with the FM/diversity module being in the rear spoiler (like the e53):

Looks like you're right. Thought I had a solution.

Would hate for you to drill holes...then it not be the correct antenna.
