Pinging noise from exhaust

Another girlie question:
I was doing some hard driving yesterday, blowing off some steam. Got out of the X while it was running and noticed a pinging noise coming from the exhaust area. ?? Thoughts.

You got your baby all hot and bothered!
Normal sounds while she's cooling off.

Yeah, I got her hot and bothered alright. Perfect day for it, sun shining, roof open, hair blowing in the wind. Light traffic and everything clicked. You know those days when you don't have to try, everyone seems to placed just right like it's your roadway. Had the pole position for every traffic light . Oh, what a ride. There's a Sammy Haggar song, ride Sally ride. Goes something like Sally's in love with her automobile, says she feels so sexy behind the wheel.

Ping was loud, never heard it before, wasn't like that clicking cool down noise.

Maybe the heat shield was making the noise...

Was the noise when you accelerated? I had an exausht issue recently, I cant say it was a pinging noise but it would get louder as I stepped on the gas...
Brought it in and they replaced my whole exhaust system. Turned out to be some faulty parts within...dont recall the name but I'll look it up on my work order. Thank god for warranty!

Most likely it's normal - I wouldn't worry about it too much. Sounds like a great drive - I'm jealous!

Just as the guys said, this is normal. But you're right, there's no better vehicle to blow off steam than the X5. Too bad my hair doesn't blow in the wind like yours . Watch out for the other guys though.

(sorry I had to throw the "red" in there. )

58 days till clock change! It's 63 degrees outside today, what a tease. Nothing like driving the X on that first spring day. It's almost here. At least then i don't need the heat on with the roof open.
