Reading SAS with Foxwell

Hi Guys, just bought a foxwell code reader. Trying to diagnose my trifecta situation. My Creador says my steering angle sensor is bad/faulty. I am trying to confirm that with the Foxwell. When I try to connect to the SAS it says "no connection", can't communicate with it. I was hoping to get live data to see what is going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Do you have multiple sas modules? Most common reason no connect is trying to use a module your car didn't have

modules

Thanks for the reply. There seem to be 2 for the SAS-LEW and LES if I remember correctly. Neither one will connect for some reason. Everyone raves about the Foxwell. I am not "raving" yet. Time will tell.

Use auto scan to discover available modules. I can't get into any of the abs modules listed from "control units" only from "service" but i can control abs from there (just kicked on my left front abs). I could read live data for my steering sensor from both options in manual control units and also from auto scan. You may have a hardware problem that the car can't "see" the angle sensor. That will of course trip the trifecta

NICE. So are we saying that itty bitty foxwell will let you do a full brake flush, including activating the abs ?

Oh yes hence the "rave" mentioned earlier. It's slow and cumbersome at times but has five what I needed for 1/3 the price of the next best babe for buck.

Feels like it was written in DOS the interface is terrible but it will get the job done I even bumped my idle up a bit to run smoother at red lights.

Activation of components is also a huge win: wondering if your aux fan is defective, or the system that controls it? Command the fan on. Or ac blower or tailgate release etc.

What model Foxwell do you have? I have two; a small one that only reads the general OBDII codes and an NT510 which goes into the BMW propietary codes. If you have a 510 or similar, does it have the BMW module?

Are you testing with key in the correct position?

A 'generic' code reader is a valuable tool no doubt, but it is no match for ISTA/D. Why not buy a $10 ebay cable? Often times they come with the software.

You will need to solder some pins, but I can definitely confirm it works! https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...ml#post1135510

Then diagnosis is easy peasy - just read the live data coming out of your ABS sensors, roll/yaw sensors, steering angle sensors.

If one or more of them don't agree with reality, you know where to start. PM me if you need help.
