Winter Parking In Garage Promotes Rust
Got to wondering if it was a bad idea to drive my e53 in the road salt and brine during the day and then pull it in a nice warm heated petrie dish at night to allow the salt and brine to accelerate the transfer of electrons.

How many of you refrain from parking in the garage in the winter to prevent corrosion?

If you want to prevent corrosion carport is better than garage especially if the ventilation / humidity control is not sufficient in the garage.

No room for a carport but I figured keeping it outside would probably be best. Just wondered if I was being too anal about it really.

I had tried that approach already. I had a 2001 330xi that was my daily winter driver until my son decided he wanted to sell his 4.8. I couldn't let that leave the family so we sort of swapped with me paying considerably more. lol

I would love to but don't want to dull the paint by going through the automatic car wash. I've only washed it by hand to date.


So that really only leaves me hand washing it at a pull in wash bay and hope i get everything underneath with that wand.


I've been planning to get some neutralizer to spray on before washing. I do also treat it with CorrosionX HD before winter and occasionally with the regular CorrosionX through out the winter.
