Tailgate Rattle

Tailgate Rattles over every single bump - the most annoying thing ever....

Dealer adjusted something in the trunk that is supposed to absorb the rattle when going over bumps but he said it will always rattle...it was a little bit better for a day or two but now its awful again...

I think I have more problems with my X than anyone on this forum...

try adjusting the rubber bumper stops in the back of the X. They are attatched to the body where the tailgate meets it.

I also added felt tape ontop of them and this really helps absorb the rattles.

Also check out the two reflectors on the top of the lower tailgate. Those sometimes bow out a little and cause rattles. At one point I removed them. I now have two new ones that are not yet bowed.

Its a new BMW why do we have these fixes

I don't understand I thought the soft close feature was supose to fix this problem.

How can BMW sell a car that needs these home fixes?

My 2005 gate rattles as well!
