Rear hatch opens each time I start my X5

My '02 X5 4.4i's rear hatch opens every so slightly each time I get in the car, even if I close the door lightly (the air pressure theory). Is there a TSB I can reference, or anyone have any solution?

Rear latch must be broken if it's opening when you get in. If it was when you clicked remote or when you turned key, it might be something in the programming/ wiring.

Such a small amount of air pressure shouldn't be capable of that. Imagine if you opened a rear window while on the freeway.... The hatch would pop open, right?! Sounds like it needs some tlc.

I think I jumped the gun...I've only the car for a day and this issue only happened twice...maybe it just wasn't closed all the way??? I'll keep my eye on it and take it to the dealer if it happens again.

That's good news. I also find it's pretty easy to nudge the tailgate button near the gear shift, and even came back to my car once after shopping to realize the trunk had been unlocked with the light on while I was in the store, despite the alarm being armed. That was Day 2 with my X5, I think- Oooops!
Anyways, hope yours has no other quirky moments.
