![]() this morning, i let my girlfriend take my 4.6is to work. upon exiting the X5, someone approached her and asked her if she ever had any issues w/ it. being that it wasn't hers, she really couldn't answer. well, this guy goes on to tell her of all the problems he had w/ his previous 4.6is and because of the issues, he traded up to the 4.8is. to make a long story short, he told her that he's sick of all the problems w/ his 4.8is and wants to get rid of it. he said that they had a recall on it and that BMW replaced the engine. has anyone heard of such a recall?

Some 4.8is made between 04/2004 and 07/2004 had the DME recall. That's all I have heard of 4.8is recall and I have a 2005.
