Just got a 04 X5 4.4i some questions.

Hi all,

after weeks of debating between a brand new RX350 or a 04 X5 4.4, I finally got the X today. I will post picture later once I got a chance to take some shoot for her.

However, I do have some questions.

1. is the side mirror suppose to be loose. I feel it is too loose which if I drive on the freeway, the wind will push it back.

2. it has premium, sport, Navigation and DSP. However, I can't find CD changer on the back. there is only one DVD for the navigation, both the navigation's top and bottom is empty slot. I just can't believe a BMW with DSP don't have CD.

Thats it for now. I am sure I will come up with more questions later. Thanks.

#1, no, the mirror should not move.
#2 you should have a single cd on the dash, and a cd changer in the back as far as I know.

cd changer is an option. doesn't come standard with any package. and with nav you should NOT have a single cd in the dash.

If you have navigation, there is no option for a 'single' CD player. You get a wonderful cassette player.

The 6-CD changer is an option - often installed in the rear cargo 'closet' by the nav. computer, sometimes installed in the glove box.
You might check the glove box for the changer.

If you don't have the changer......an iPod & adaptor is surely the best way to enjoy that DSP audio......or start copying those CDs onto cassettes !! :-(

Scotty.

Thanks.

Now I got another problem. I push on the left side rotary button. the Nav scree stays on Menu or what ever the original nav screen was showing. I can't even turn on the radio.

Yes. I did read the menu. it say "push the left hand rotary button".

Also the DSP item disappear from the Menu. I swear I saw it there before and when I selected DSP it goes into the frequency adjust menu. but now I can't even find where is the DSP item.

I feel I am a idiot now

The left miror repair is expensive it costs me $100 (deductible, warranty company got charged with $520) and need to the motor replacement, dealer said. I would suggest if you don't warranty, you should open up and replace them the part yourself.

You can pick up a six-cd changer on ebay for about $150. The front page on x5world has links to information on the cd-changer. That's what I had to do. The vehicle is pre-wired for it, so it's just a simple plug and play.

How do you find if the X is pre-wired for CD-Changer? I have 04 4.4i X5, would there be a possibility of my x being pre-wired?

Thanks,
Sumo

Every X5 is pre-wired for CD Changer. Just go to the driver side rear panel and look for a 3-pin and 6-pin connectors (might be bundled and well wrapped with the wiring loom - may have to hunt a bit for them). Look here for more info => http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/s...er-bmw-x5.html
