Dinan Question - Can I Install Myself?

I have read a few posts about Dinan products but I still have one question. Can I buy the Dinan part and install it myself? All of the posts I have seen indicate the X5 owner had the part installed and I do not see any articles about installing Dinan parts.

Has anyone delt with any Dinan distributors in South Florida? Are the prices on the Dinan web site the price you get from the distributor?

Dinan fixes all their prices so it is very difficult to find any better deals on new products regardless of who you go to. They are not very accomodating either especially if you buy used items (On ebay for example) and request manuals or support parts - trust me on this. Dinan makes good products but they are also really overpriced by comparison. I have found all my Dinan parts either used or new by contacting people trying to sell their upgraded X5's. Most new buyers are not looking to buy a Dinan modified vehicle second hand for fear of excessive driver wear & tear. What I have been fortunate in doing

Sorry my previous response cut off a bit. I've installed my Intake, MAF, Throttle body, Strut Tower Brace & Camber plates all myself & saved $$. I even went a different route for the engine software and installed a powerchip program instead. PC is great to work with & sent me the cable set, step by step instructions then I uploaded the program from my laptop in about 30 minutes. It is the exact same process the Dinan distributors do as I added the stage 4 Dinan trans software 3 weeks ago & watched the Dinan distributor do it. Just to note - If you have the $$ I'd go with an ESS Supercharger before doing a Dinan S2 package or otherwise. I have seen an 02 4.6 with the ESS unit first hand (Nice package) & it blows my S2 off the map. It has the identical Vortec supercharger as the $11,000 Dinan S3 kit for $8400. I'm a tightwad but I'm saving my pennies for one myself.

Ask your self this question. Will Dinan warrentee your installation??
2nd Question. Would saving a few dollars pay for a bad installation?

Hmmm lets see... Yes, Dinan will warranty their parts if they are purchased new form a dealership. If you don't have confidence in your abilities to do mods yourself then plan to spend the $$ to let someone else do it for you. We are talking simple stuff here (So easy a Caveman can do it..). #2 - Barry, We are not talking about saving a few dollars but thousands. If you've got the cash to throw away then by all means go for it... I was just providing a cheaper performance alternative for a vehicle that is already out of factory warranty. I have under $1700 invested in my S2 package that Dinan will charge you $5,200 + intallation for. Hey - It's your money & choice so have fun making it.

I'm all in favor of it. IF Dinan will warrenty the parts and the installation That was my only question. I brought it up because #1 folks don't think about that part of the process #2 some MFG will not warrenty a part if someone screws it up during installation. Other than that I agree go for it. I'm all for saving money also
