Talking Stupid engine swap question?

When I purchase my X5 I wanted the power and luxury of a 4.8is but I wanted the 6 speed gearbox, so I opted to load my 3.0L almost all the options available. But now I want the speed, now my stupid question is, can I do an engine swap like the rice eaters do. I was thinking of a S54 or a N62 did any one think that will be possible.

First off, it's not "rice eaters" but on to your question....

I'm sure you can do anything with enough money but you'd be talking about a whole lot of it. I don't know for sure but I'd say that the 6 speed manual transmission probably isn't robust enough to handle the greater power and torque of those bigger engines. Bottom line: Buy a 4.8is and live with the smooth slushbox.

Why the hell your engine has to do with "rice eaters"?

Please don’t get offended, when I said rice eaters I meant, Japanese cars, especially Honda, not any persons or race, my apologies for the comment. On the engine swap, in Germany I have seen 3 series with M5 engines, but never an X5, I would look around an post pictures.

I believe the term is "Ricey" as in "fast and the furious" wanna be.
LOL.
How about you get a 4.8 and then swap the tranny for a manual?

your car should be termed "Sauerkraut burner" and lambos or ferraris as "pasta rockets"

The proper term is ( Rice Rockets)

Wasn't there a videoclip somewhere on this site of an X5 with a V12 engine in it racing around a track with a German guy yacking away?

Ya but that one was built by BMW themselves to demonstrate the capabilities of the x5 and cost mucho $$$$$. Plus it was the only one built.

I was actually wondering the same thing as Gabriel. I would love swap my engine for an M5 engine. WOW! Just think about it.

GABRIEL let me know what you find out I will do some research on my end.

Buy a 4.6 or a 4.8 and do upgrades to it! Do not waste your money doing an engine swap.
