Air flow sensor problem

I think mine is going, problem with high revs or high speed and stepping on the gas, balking and hesitating.

Is it possible to clean or is it a replacement necessary part?

before you run and buy a new sensor, try cleaning it with a Qtip, most of the time that's all it takes, just be very very gentle careful with it, don't apply much pressure

Really? Awesome. Do you mean to remove it from the housing and just clean it? What exactly do you clean?

OOOOHH!! Me likey your question?? Will it do any good?

I also just cleaned those 2 metal wires that are exposed. Is that what you are supposed to do??

Couldn't remove the sensor, so I just removed the tube.

Now how do you clear the SES light without any electric device to see if it did any good.

Can you reset with the key? Turn to first click 10 seconds, then start?

I had similar symptoms with a failed O2 sensor on a different car. I'm no expert so don't take my diagnosis seriously.

Turn to first click, wait ten seconds, then advancing to start. Didn't work. Bummer. Any other suggestions to clear SES light. I don't know if this makes a difference, but I have a European X5 4.4 October 2000 build.
