Honestly, is it worh the difference...

Hey everyone, how's it going. Since I sold my M3 I miss having a BMW and regret selling it. I have recently been looking at the X5s and getting real close to purchasing one. My only concern was is it worth the extra thousand or so to get the 4.6 instead of a 4.4?

I know it does have more Horespower and Torque, but can't I make those numbers with a few mods on a 4.4 and save a lot of money? Are there any great extras to get the 4.6 over the 4.4?

Please I hope to hear back from you all. Thank you and have a great Thanksgiving Day and Weekend.

when you say 4.6, I'm assuming you're looking at an 03 model? Beginning in 2004, the 4.6is was replaced with the 4.8is. The "is" models offer things standard that are optional on the 4.4i. Servotronic, premium sound, n/c comfort seats, nappa leather, stronger engine, bigger brakes, sport suspension, and a plethora of items I haven't mentioned. If you're looking for a loaded 4.4, I'd recommend looking for a 4.6. There's definitely a difference that you'll notice if you drive both. As for the 4.8, adjustable ride height became standard, another cool option so entry/exit from the X5 is easier ... Good luck!!!!

Just chip the 4.4 like me - haha. Then again, good tuning is already about 600+..?

You're better off getting an 04+ 4.4 or 4.8 and having the added features. The 04+ 4.4 isn't much slower than the 4.6. The 4.8 speaks for itself.

You get alot of "bells n' whistles" with the top end 4.6 or 4.8 - the 4.4 is your "pick n' choose" model - Which is the way I went because I did not want the sunroof - Find out what options you really want (or need), and choose accordingly - the 4.4 also seems to get the best hwy mileage

Well I really like the 4.6 Front and Rear Bumper and I know I would add that onto the 4.4 and a few modifications (software, intake, exhaust) for more performance. If I were to do those sort of modifications would I be saving a good amount of money?

I'm pretty much looking for a X5 which has the following:
16:9 On-Board Navigation System
Premium Sound
Sport Package
Moonroof (If they make it in '04 a Panoramic Roof)

I think the 4.4 comes standard with the other things (Don't really mind the Heated Seats) or am I leaving somethings out?

kkx5 - 600hp out of an X5!?!
Also what is Servotronic...sorry if it's a dumb question?

servotronic is speed sensitive power steering which gives you a lot more power steering assist at low speed as opposed to a non-servotronic vehicle (which is engine speed dependent). A very good option if you parallel park quite a bit, or do a lot of low speed driving

I see...well I won't be needing that since I'm a speed freak, haha! No, but thanks for explaing it, I won't be needing that option.
