X5 interior room question

Just curious...with the rear seats folded down...how much room will i have?
Basically wanna know if i were to buy a bookshelf from Ikea - box length is about 80 inches...will it fit?

Also, how reliable is the 4.6 engine when it hits 100k miles? (assuming all maintenance was done)

thanks
franklin

you'll have to have the box go between the 2 front seats if the box is narrow enough. i had to transport a unassembled window frame that was in a box close to 80" and i had to angle it and put it in between the seats. if it won't fit between the seats, maybe try to put the driver's side rear seat down, move the front passenger seat all the way forward and tilt the seat all the way back and see if it will give you enough room. good luck.

There is not much space in the X5 even with the seats folded.

Hey i did the home depot thing and hauled two mirrored doors 40X96 home. Only problem I had was there's no way to secure the rear hatch with the tailgate down so every now and then it bumped a bit. Sure the doors stuck out but i flagged em.

mine lives with its rear seats down 90% of the time ;p
longest thing i fit in it, 12 feet long roll of carpet
that thing was so heavy, yet got it home going 25mph all the way on side streets lol got a lot of STRANGE looks from other cars

the tailgate design helps fit long things np, just make sure you measure your height and width, bigger boxes tend not to fit heightwise
but in your case you should have np hauling that stuff home
