Red face Bottom hatch not locking

Hi,can someone tell me what could be causing the bottom rear hatch not to lock,the top liftgate is what's helping it not to drop down,any info would be much helpful.

From about six inches out close the bottom rear hatch with a firm hard push. I had the exact same problem and this has worked for me.

Well, i'm back from BMW,it seems like all was needed was an adjustment on the two locking hooks at both ends of the bottom half of liftgate and that did it "DONE".But they also found that the top half of liftgate switch was not working also , i did'nt know cause i always used the remote or the switch by the gear shift....but they replaced that too;DONE.

Great, keep an eye on the tailgate bushings as they can wear down over time.
