It must have been a slow day for speeding tickets

I know where all the speeding spots are as it's my usual route...

So as we come around the bend, and that damm silver 525 instead of easing off the pedal, decided to slams on the brake instead. And I'm not touching his bumper yet and still have a decent margin of space between me and him......but the LEO pulls out, lights me up and I get a ticket for tailgating !
I don't brake whenever I see a LEO unless I'm actually doing the speeding to warrant that, but easing off till I pass and just follow the traffic flow.

I guess I should have braked when the car in front braked.....dunno......hindsight vs. foresight.

Tailgating....this would be a 1st.
And as the usual, the LEO would not even hear my story on the front car and just demanded the DL and went back to his car to do his bizness.....

Grrr...

I got stuck in the same scenario once. I was about 4 car lengths behind a car, the car saw a cop on the side of the road..slammed on their brakes, so I did in turn and ended up about 5 feet from their bumper....cop slammed me for tailgating, can't see how it was my fault as the driver in front..slammed on their brakes.

The kicker is do I contest or not....

My traffic lawyers rates have gone waaay up. Almost double since the last time I used him. Almost 8 bills !

But I have to say, for the only other 2 times I've had a ticket (speeding) both times he made it go away

Screw the lawyer, just go talk to the ADA on your court date and plead guilty to something less offensive. To your insurance company, a taligating is equal to or worse than a red light and/or speeding ticket.

I have never heard of a tailgaiting ticket. If they did that in Dallas
they would stop traffic for years giving tickets. Fight it.

Man, that sucks. Hope you'll get it taken off in court, since I would definately take it to court.

I've gotta research but I thought that even if the LEO does not show up on the 1st appearance date, it's get's rescheduled---it does not get thrown out since the LEO had 3X to show up ???? Going to court is a whole day affair depending on what time it is. The last time I went to court was when I got my 1st ticket and it's been so long....I don't remember the setup , but there was a judge and no ADA. We all sat and waited till the judge called up each one of us, one by one. The only thing I do recall was everyone was giving these lame excuses and the judge just kept giving everyone the guilty One by One.

I've reached out to another lawyer I have in my contacts just to compare........

It's just pretty lame to get a tailgating ticket ;-)
