What type of steering is on the 4.4i?

Quick question:

What kind of steering does the 4.4i model have? I remember driving a 4.6is and I coulda sworn it's the too-light recirculating ball type steering rack. Does the 4.4i use this and/or did it change with the '04 facelift?

i'd guess rack and pinion too...i think bmw stopped with the recirculating ball on the e39?

and it's probably because the 4.6is has the servotronic steering assist thingy

Hmm okay so it's the Servotronic on the 4.6is that makes it too light. I thought it'd be rack and pinion too, its just the 4.6is's steering was uncharacteristically light, reminiscent of the 2001 steering on the 3-series (blech). If I take a friend out for test drives, the last thing I want is to recommend something which he'll say "why's the steering so light?"

Thanks for the response

the E53 has rack & pinion - IMHO it's the only sport steering setup to have
